Failure Mechanisms in Electronic Products at High Altitudes

چکیده
Understanding the risks of using commercial off-theshelf (COTS) electronic components, specifically laptop computers, in a non-commercial environment is critical to designers of military systems. The environment studied in this paper is that of an unpressurized aircraft cockpit operating at 35,000 feet. During operation in this environment, COTS may be exposed to low atmospheric pressure and may experience low temperatures and humidity.

متن کاملPhysiological and biochemical responses of Quercus brantii seedlings to water deficit stress
Water shortage is one of the most important environmental stresses in Mediterranean regions. Poor seedling quality may account for the failure of oak regeneration. To determine the best seed origin of Quercus brantii, we investigated on seedlings collected from 20 mother trees in the Zagros Mountain forests 700 to 2200 m altitudes above sea level. Seedlings from different altitudes were irrig...
متن کاملRV is doing well at high altitudes!--Always?
Altitude exposure has long been recognized as a cardiac stress. Early accounts of alpine climbs mention a diagnosis of “cardiac fatigue” based on tachycardia, palpitations, shortness of breath, and chest percussion (fonendoscopy) of enlarged hearts (1). Heart failure syndromes have been reported at high altitudes under various names including brisket disease in cattle brought to high-altitude p...
متن کاملFAILURE MECHANISMS OF REFRACTORY LININGS FOR NONFERROUS FLASH SMELTING FURNACES
Although the flash smelting technologies use different furnace designs, the refractory linings are exposed to very similar aggressive environments and, as a result, the corrosion analysis results on one type of furnace could be generally applied to other furnaces of similar high temperature processes. Particularities regarding the different chemistries of the pyrometallurgical process and opera...
